Case Study: Hoxan Corporation—Japan
The Problem
The Hoxan Corporation was facing numerous challenges in disposing of waste from dairy farms and pig farms, especially due to the long and severe winters on the northern island of Hokkaido. During the winter, livestock is housed in contained areas which makes slurry collection much easier and more efficient. The managers at Hoxan hoped to find a way to tap the potential for energy generation from these waste products. The EversTech Solution
EversTech and Hoxan cooperated on the design for a dairy farm which used EversTech's ET Process to generate power from the farm's waste. The results were above what we anticipated and the Japanese were more than delighted. The dairy farm became a demonstration unit for the ET Process in Japan.
The Hoxan Corporation has since been licensed to market EversTech's ET Process in Japan and southeast Asia, which it has done extensively.

Cattle were housed inside all year round because of the constant wintry conditions, and lack of pasture land. Here a full waste treatment and odor control system was installed, again using anaerobic digestion to provide biogas and the energy for the fume extraction system. Emissions were cleaned through a bio-scrubber. |
Financial Benefits
The various projects installed by Hoxan showed capital returns on the value of resources recovered within two to five years. The use of biogas to generate electricity allowed for significant savings in energy costs. Additional profits were generated by the sale of surplus biomass as an organic fertilizer.
